Why, oh why, have i agreed to do this?

@Frotz I'm sorry to hear that you're having to face this! Sounds like the kinds of discussions I hated with D&D 3.5, hah.

@Frotz
maybe tell them your doing "arnesian no-hud od&d" and just get rid of all rules questions in one fell swoop 😬

@kensanata

@lskh @kensanata πŸ˜€ I like that! This was prompted when I told them I'd run it 'by the book', and then the arguments about how there weren't enough rules came up and we were off to the races. I like your idea better!

@Frotz
In any case you can argue being super authentic πŸ‘
@kensanata

@lskh @Frotz I'm a big fan of D&D as oral history: apply the rules you remember, remove the rules you keep forgetting, add the rules you made up on the spot if they come up again. The rules as a living document.

@Frotz
That's what playing #ODnD these days is all about, right? At least that's why I like it so much 😈

@lskh @kensanata I like that idea but there seem to be folks who want to re-create certain play styles or game styles or whatever. When I told my wife I was going to run an OD&D game she bade me good luck and said I'd either have a great time or end up in jail. she's clearly familiar with those who like to play and those who like to argue.

@lskh @kensanata one fun thing is we're all supposed to switch refereeing so different folks can run things the way they want. that should help keep tensions down.

@Frotz
@kensanata
Sounds rather like problematic players than problematic rule set.

On some of these occasions I use my handy 10 minute hourglass so I don't forget to roll for some nasty random encounter while they argue ...

@lskh @kensanata That's good! I think you're right re: players (I've only met them and had a couple of beers, not played). I'm hopeful it won't be so bad (and that I can be good too).
